Pleasant Greetings of the day!
I’m Maitri Pachori, a law student who wants to work for the betterment of the society.
The lack of Menstrual Hygiene has always remained a concern in India, with young girls and women having inadequate access to menstrual education and basic sanitary care supplies. Lockdowns have amplified the impact of domestic taboos and stigmas on women, making it more difficult to manage menstruation in restricted quarters without shame or suffering.
I’m working with *Hamari Pahchan NGO* under their initiative *Project Sukhad*. This project strives to offer disadvantaged women with basic menstrual hygiene needs, improve sanitary environments, and educate and eliminate the stigmas associated with menstruation.
Project Sukhad's main goal is to give *'Sukhad kits,'* which include *24 packs of sanitary pads, 6 packets of soap, and disposal paper envelopes*. Sukhad Kits' bags and paper envelopes are created by poor women, giving them a way to supplement their income.
Through this initiative we have already helped *50,000* women and girls and we want to continue to do so.
*Sukhad Kit for 1 menstruating person costs ₹1,400/-*
*Sukhad Kit for 5 menstruating people costs ₹7,000/-*
*Menstrual hygiene is a right, not a privilege.*
Menstrual care isn’t a luxury - for most women, it’s something we simply can’t live without. Despite this, statistics show that millions of women/girls are affected by period poverty. Menstrual hygiene is necessary because it helps women who menstruate to live on a level playing field with those who do not. It enables females to balance education, family, and career without being held back on a monthly basis.
It is past time for us to take action and support initiatives, and I am confident that by working together, we can bring a positive change.
I eagerly await your contributions.
