Hey all! We're back, and we're incredibly excited to confirm that Kerala Queer Pride will be happening on October 7 & 8 in Thrissur. Come join us!
A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED SO FAR! We couldn't do this without you. The remaining funds will be distributed to people from the Queer community who have lost their homes and belongings in the flood. <3
UPDATE II: Dear all,
As you might have heard, the weather in Kerala has taken a drastic turn for the worse. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a cyclone warning, along with a forecast of intensification of rainfall for the next few days. Several community members have also reached out to say that travel has become impossible for them.
As a result, we are forced to postpone this year's Pride, which was to be held on August 16/17. We apologize sincerely and unreservedly for any inconveniences caused; but as we're sure you understand, there really was no way we could have foreseen this sudden cyclonic formation. We do not wish to put the community at any more risk than we're already facing.
The new dates will be announced shortly - please watch this space!
Also, a reminder: the money that you're contributing for Pride will also go towards funding the rehabilitation of flood-hit areas. Let's do our part to rebuild Kerala.
In solidarity and love,
Team Queer Pride Kerala.

UPDATE: As many of you know, eleven of Kerala's districts are under red alert as a result of an unprecedented amount of rainfall this season, leading to severe flooding. More than 54,000 people have been moved to rehabilitation camps as we wait for the waters to recede.
This is why we have decided to donate all proceeds that remain from Pride's organising to the rehabilitation of flood-hit areas.

Kerala’s Queer Pride is turning nine this year! Every year, our marches and celebrations have grown bigger and bolder, with more and more community members and allies joining us as we take to the streets.
This year, as we all know, is a crucial year for Queer rights in India. We’re days away from the Supreme Court’s verdict on decriminalising Section 377 of the IPC. During the trial, Justice Chandrachud pointed out that the right to choose a partner is a Fundamental Right, and that it cannot be eclipsed.
In Kerala, which was also the first state to announce a Transgender Policy, the government also introduced a reservation policy in higher education for the transgender community.
This Pride, we hope to bring art, activism and academia together. There will be discussions and panels, exhibitions of artwork, and cultural events. We will work to create a safer and more inclusive Pride that welcomes all the queers in the State and beyond.
The funds raised shall primarily be used for:
1) Travel and accommodation expenses of the official guests for the event
2) Expenses for cultural events
3) Booking a venue, booking lights and sound systems etc.
4) Expenses for pre-Pride events
5) Press Conference expenses
6) Expenses for Pride banners, notices, placards, goodies, flags and more.
Please support us in making Kerala Pride this year bigger and better than ever before! Any amount, no matter how big or small, will be highly appreciated.
Thank you! <3
Queerly yours,
Team Queer Pride Keralam
