"I want to make my mother proud. A single mother, she has sacrificed so much to let me live my dream"

Meet Jessy- a 21-year-old youngster from Kerala. She is a sprinter and her event is the 800m dash.

Jessy is a final year B.Com student. She stays at the PT Usha School in order to fulfill her training and achieve her passion of sports. Jessie has been at the PT Usha School since 2008, when she was studying in the seventh standard.

Jessy has two younger sisters. Her father passed away from a liver problem in 2009, and her mother works as a coolie to enable all three daughters to study without any problems.

“My mother is my biggest inspiration. She did not let us struggle, and managed to give us whatever we needed at the time.” says Jessy fondly.

Achievements:

Jessy’s maiden International Participation was at South Asia Federation Games held in Ranchi in the year 2013 where she won gold medal with New Meet Record in the 800M event.
She also represented India in the Asian Junior Athletics Championships held in Taipei city(Taipei) in the year 2016. She won silver medal in the 800M event and gold medal in the 4x400 M relay event.
She represented India in the IAAF World Junior Athletics Championships held in Eugene (USA)in July 2014

We are fundraising to help Jessie with her training for the next six months. Jessy needs about 20,000 INR every month to maintain her training.

Sports as a career option is expensive in India. Players from a weak economic background find it hard to support their passion, despite immense talent. This talent eventually falls by the wayside.
