Kindly help me to collect funds for my Lung Transplant

Hello. I'm Sougata Bakshi from Kolkata, West Bengal. I am 18 years old. I was diagnosed with a critical lung disease named Interstitial Lung Disease ( ILD) in 2011. Due to this disease, the walls of both my lungs are covered with fibres. So it is very difficult for me to breathe. I'm dependent on Artificial Oxygen since 2013. Presently, I'm under the treatment of Dr. Raja Dhar of Fortis Hospitals. My father was diagnosed with the same disease ( Interstitial Lung Disease ). However he could not survive and unfortunately, he died on 26th February, 2012. I acquired this disease genetically. The disease is very progressive and it worsens the condition of both my lungs as time passes.
My health condition is also not very good. I cannot walk without the help of artificial oxygen. I am dependent on artificial oxygen for 24x7; even during sleeping, I've to depend on oxygen. I have to take 8-10 types of various medicines for this disease. The expenses of these medicine are huge. I've to go to Fortis Hospitals every month for monthly checkup where I take an Oxygen cylinder with me. I can't go anywhere.

I last went to school in class 7 and from Class 8, I continued my studies from my home. I had written my Secondary Exams from Nursing Home. It was very tough situation for me to write for 3 continuous hours because along with ILD , I'm a patient of Rheumatoid Arthritis as well. I have pain in my joints and muscles every time. So, yes it was a very tough time for me. My secondary examination results were average good. Here, I would like to mention that I got awarded by my school, NAVA NALANDA HIGH SCHOOL. YES, I WAS A STUDENT OF NAVA NALANDA HIGH SCHOOL. I got a Certificate Of Appreciation for my hard work and sheer determination from my school, Nava Nalanda and I received Rs. 10,000 from Nava Nalanda Alumni Association and the principal of our school, Shri Arijit Mitra. It was a memorable moment in my life. However I could not take Science Stream in Higher Secondary education as it was impossible for me to attend school for a single day. Still, I tried to perform good with the stream that I had to take. I must say one thing that I received a lot of help from Nava Nalanda and its teachers and students and from the principal himself. I am thankful to them.  I also got financial help of Rs. 25,000 from West Bengal State Government. I have also written my Higher Secondary Examination in the same way as I had written my Secondary Exam. I want to continue my studies as long as I'm alive. But the only problem that I have to face during studying is my bad health.

So, a few days back, when I went to Fortis for checkup, Dr. Dhar told me that a Lung Transplantation Operation is now available and for that operation, I've to go to Global Gleneagles Hospitals of Chennai. He clearly told my mother that without that Transplantation operation, I would not survive for even 3 more years because the nature of this disease is very progressive. Also, there are no medicines available that can cure my disease completely. So I definitely need a Lung transplantation.

But the cost of the Transplantation operation is around Rs. 60 lacs, which is very much high for a middle class family like ours. I've lost my father also.

I SHALL REMAIN THANKFUL TO EVERYONE WHO WOULD HELP ME FINANCIALLY. I REQUEST EVERYONE. KINDLY HELP ME RAISE THE FUND. KINDLY SAVE MY LIFE. I DON'T WANT TO DIE SO YOUNG. PLEASE HELP ME. PLEASE.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WOULD HELP ME AND SUPPORT ME IN TIME OF MY DISTRESS.  I SHALL REMAIN GRATEFUL TO EVERYONE WHO WOULD HELP ME BY DONATING FUNDS. THANK YOU.

Dear Supporters,

With a heavy heart, we would like to inform you that Sougata passed away due to cardiac arrest. There was a brief period a few months ago when his family couldn't take him for his regular treatment at the hospital because of COVID measures. They believe that that deteriorated his condition beyond repair.

When he went into cardiac arrest they thought he would pull through, because it had happened before. But unfortunately, he didn't. He was a brave child. May his soul rest in peace.

The funds raised with the help of your support were utilized for his treatment.

Thank you for all the support, do keep the family in your prayers.

Regards,
Team Milaap
