We are working with the Nahar community of Prabhat Pattan village in Betul district. Community is working with BHILWA nuts to get its dry fruit GODAMBI out of nut by breaking the same. They also extract oil out of wastage of Bhilwa nut cover by burning the same. This community is very backward and not educated much. Most of the adults are having habit of smoking and drinking. Community women works hard with BHILWA for 6 to 8 hours a day. They have black spots and wounds sometimes on their hands-legs and other body parts due to toxicity of the Bhilwa nut oil. This spots, wounds leads to ‘untouchability’, even children do not go schools, looking at the behavior from other children of upper casts.

We are supporting them for their livelihood by providing interest free loans. This year we have supported 30 women. We are also running an activity center for children on community to motivate them for education and to link them with local schools.

We are about to build a space for children for educational activities and also to use the same as community space for women SHG groups.

We have committed matching fund available. We need Rs. 15 lakhs to raise to get this committed fund. Kindly support this initiative. It will be creating long term impact on lives of this community.
