Need & Purpose:
African countries are drastically affected by drought, desertification and land degradation. Millions of people have died due to famines and lack of proper drinking water. According to United Nations, a deadly dry spell and famine that claimed 260000 lives across African countries. It is predicted this is expected to repeat again. Spreading the news across the globe and getting adequate support to face the drought and famine is a Humanitarian Emergency situation.
Helping an Environmental Journalist to take part in The UNCCD COP 14 will in turn help to report amount terrible conditions and get attention of global media.
The Conference will help to carry best practices, technology and funds from around the globe to combat desertification and drought.
The fund is required by end 2nd week of August 2019. This shall be used to support essentials like travel expenses and stay of the journalist and provide logistics support to participants representing Grameena Vikas Samithi.
