My father has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (Stage 5 Kidney Disease). Currently on homeodialysis, he has to undergo a kidney transplant operation for a better and longer life.
For those of you who know me personally know that my father has been battling with health issues from past two years. Five months ago, we came to Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital, Nadiad for his treatment of urethral stricture and kidney stone. His creatinine was raised and he was dialysed to start the treatment. Little did we know that what started as a short stay in hospital would turn out to be so challenging and complicated for us.
The doctors here asked for cardiac opinion before operation and the cardiologist advised re-vasculaization (CABG) before any major surgery. He successfully underwent heart-by pass-surgery in August '16.
Doctors advised him to be on dialysis for the next three months after the heart surgery. But there has been some or the other complication and he has been hospitalized for majority of the time in the past 5 months. He has grown weaker over time.
Fast forward five months, he has been diagnosed with kidney failure and he has to undergo a kidney transplant operation for a better and longer life.
Last week he underwent nephrectomy to remove one infected Kidney and is currently under recovery.
He is the sole bread winner of our family and I being a recent college graduate do not know much about his business. We have already spent a big sum on his treatment and now running into financial crunch. My father has always strived to provide the best to his kids and family.
(My dad, two years ago)Such a long treatment has already taken a toll on his mind and body. This is the hardest our family has been through. Being a son, I cannot see him suffer this way.
I believe in the power of community and I know that If it is possible, we can get it done.
