8 month old Kartik urgently needs an open heart surgery to thrive. Your support could save him !!

In January 2018 Bena, my wife was in the Operation Theatre. As we waited, the nurse came informed “Beta hua hai!!” with a bright smile. Our joy knew no bounds. While Bena held the baby, she just thanked God in between sobs as the boy was born after 6 daughters. We named him “Kartik', one who bestows courage and happiness.

I am Rajendra Parmar from Shyampura village of Jhabua taluka in Madhya Pradesh.  I work as a farm labour to support my large ten member family.

I work in farms of our village Shyampura. Our son Kartik was born after 6 daughters. My wife was overwhelmed. We were so happy

When Kartik turned 7 months, he began having difficulty in breathing. He would get tired easily, his limbs would turn pale and bluish and at times he would temporarily lose consciousness. We were worried. Consulting local doctors did not help much.  A relative suggested that we should take him to Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad in Gujarat where quality health-care was available at affordable rates. So, without wasting any time, we brought him to the Hospital on 04thSeptember 2018 and he was admitted in the Cardiac Centre where afterbasic tests, he was diagnosed to be suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a rare congenital heart defect.

As Kartik turned 7 months, he faced difficulty in breathing along-with other problems. We were worried for his life as he would cry, turn blue and become unconscious. At the Hospital in Karamsad, doctors told us he had a rare congenital heart defect.

The treating paediatric cardiac surgeon, Dr Vishal Bhende says, Tetralogy of Fallot is a rare, complex  congenital heart defect where oxygen levels in the blood drops due to mixing of pure and impure blood. TOF occurs in about 05 out of every 10,000 babies.

The surgery has to be urgently done to save the life of the boy. It is planned for 26thSeptember. The operation cost will be around Rs 2 lakhs, a large amount for a farm labour like me with a large family and earning only Rs 4000 a month. This is an unexpected crisis in our life where the survival of our dear son is at stake. Your help could make a difference.

Kartik the loving brother of his sisters, needs an open heart surgery on priority which would cost Rs 2 lakhs. Your help could save our son's life.
