Few of our members had gone to their rural areas in the Bankura city. In a school, Ashirbad Vidyalaya, we came across 15 kids how could really play well. We believe with some proper training and guidance, they could even play at district or state level within months. The problem arose when we talked to their parents. They were not allowing any such progress especially in chess as they believed that their kids were better off helping them in ploughing fields or if possible be good in studies.
Collectively we came to an agreement that we would be conducting a tournament for the kids in the areas at the Ashirbad Vidyalaya premises itself for under 18 kids of the town and for that we want to keep some amount of prize money for the kids. We believe if the parents see that if they are good then there is prospect of income then they might allow their kids to persue in the field of chess.
