    This fundraiser will benefit

    Sundaravva

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

I am fundraising to help Sundaravva bear the medical expenses of femur intramedullary rod surgery. Sundaravva is a hard working Milaap borrower. Having borrowed a loan of Rs. 15,000 recently from Milaap to expand her micro-business, she was getting off to a good start. Her life fell apart suddenly when she met with an unfortunate accident. Suffering from partial blindness, Sundaravva failed to notice a ditch while she was out to relieve herself and suffered a fall, fracturing her left femur shaft.  This incident, which occurred last year, forced her family into a cumulative debt of Rs. 60,000 to attend to her medical expenses.

Sundaravva’s medical condition left her bed-ridden, cutting off the family’s income by half. Her son, the only working member in the family, works as a daily-wage laborer, earning Rs. 150 per day. Everything that he earns falls short to pay the interest of the loan every month—while the principal amount still remains to be paid. The family doesn’t even have resources to pay for Sundaravva’s regular medical check-ups. Not only has the incident left Sundaravva lifeless, but it has also crippled her family. At an age of 60, Sundaravva’s mother struggles to keep up with her work. She takes care of Sundaravva and manages all the household chores.

It has been a year, and nothing much has changed. Everyone in the family struggles to keep it together, even as they grow tired of earning just to pay for the loan. They know that Sundaravva’s next medical check-up is due, but they can’t even afford a private trip to the hospital, which is located 20kms from her village.

Your contribution will be given to Sundaravva to help her repay a loan of Rs. 60,000, and save some money to fund the future medical expenses.
