On 15th of November, 2018 Cyclone Gaja hit the Districts of Thiruvarur and etc. The taluk of Thiruthuraipoondi was devastated and the dalith colony in Mettupalayam village was one of the village very badly affected. people lost their huts and had to stay in the relief camps for nearly a month.
We have collected clothes and other materials to support them. The need of the hour is support for livelihood of the community people. We have formed four SHGs of the affected women.
The appeal is for funding support for livelihood activities of the four Self Help Group.
GroupI " SEMBARUTHI  12 MEMBERS- Goatry Purchase of Goats - 24 female +1 male at the cost of t INR 125,000
Group II " THAZAMPOO" 10 MEMBERS - Rearing of traditional fowls (10 Birds per member x 10 members) 100 x 300= 30,000  and cage to protect them  1000 x 10 total cost Rs.40,000
Group III  " KURUNJI" 12 MEMBERS- Production and sale of Natural fertilizer and insect chaser - Purchase of traditional  cow 6 x 20000 =1,20,000 , purchase of drums and other vessels Rs.1000 x 6 = 6000 total cost 126,000
Group IV  " PUTHUMAI PENN 11 MEMBERS- Construction and sale of Bio-sand water filters - Purchase of  bio- sand filter  mould four number  80,000 and working capital for the purchase of cement, sand , stones and paint Rs.20,000 x 4 = 80,000 and totally 1,60,000.
