About a year ago, last year during the month of May, he was diagnosed with COPD already in its advanced stage. His condition is progressively getting worse day by day, with multiple episodes of sudden exacerbation pertaining to the unpredictable nature of the disease that could be life threatening at any point of time. He lost all his independence, and even small things like brushing his teeth leaves him fighting for breath. Even after talking for a while, he finds it difficult to catch up with his breath.
Tarun Chandra Roy is my beloved life partner, is a very joyful and cheerful person with a lot of positivism. It is emotionally taxing to see your loved one to go through such an excruciating suffering every single day.
It had been a year, since he had been on a health roller coaster ride and it will get no better. I have been preparing myself for the worst over and over again, taking everything one day at a time. The least that I can do is to continue with the medical treatment along with personal care to make his ride less bumpy. I have always been a house wife, and he is a retired pensioner. Prior to his medical ailment, we were able to survive with his pension of Rs.16000 per month. The organization with which my husband was working, does not cover medical expenses after retirement. Now the total cost of the medical treatment stands at around Rs. 25000 per month. Other than these regular medical treatment expenses, over the past one year I had to admit him to hospital multiple times every time when his COPD symptoms flared up. Other than the monthly medical treatment expenditures I have already spent around Rs. 2,80,000 because of recurrent hospital admissions. Till now, I have managed these expenses through a loan from bank of around Rs. 2,00,000 against my husband’s pension, through loans from my family friends and some financial support of my relatives. I would also like to mention here, that around Rs. 5000 is getting deducted every month from his meager pension as a repayment to the bank loan.
I also need to focus on supporting him emotionally.  The physical pain associated with the disease is no less, and the financial burden is adding more to his suffering making him anxious.
This is my humble request to each one of you to help us in this difficult phase of our life through your financial assistance as well as prayers and help my husband to have a better quality of life for the rest of his life. All the donations will be used to repay the debts and for his further medical treatment that needs to be continued lifelong.
