“All my life, I have been a servant of God. I had completely immersed myself in devotion. Now, with my son is fighting blood cancer, these have become the darkest days of our lives. But I hold the deepest faith in God, and know he will somehow help me save him.” - Balasubramaniam

15-year-old Sri Sampath is completely bedridden – he needs help to even go to the washroom. Both his legs hurt from knee-down because of visible blood clots. He can barely eat or sleep. But he keeps a portrait of his favourite spiritual guru on his bed and prays with his eyes closed, and wears the holy ashes on his forehead without fail.

These things and his unwavering faith are give him some relief now. Sri Sampath suffers from acute myeloid leukemia, a type of deadly and rapidly spreading blood cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells.

His suffering seems to have no end

Sri Sampath was a bright teenager – happy and full of energy. He loved going to school and was ready to attend his classes in person again,  in May 2021, after a year of online classes, when tragedy struck. His ears started bleeding uncontrollably, so much that even medicines had no effect on him. It was after many tests that it was found to be a symptom of blood cancer.

“He underwent chemotherapy for two months. And by God's Grace, his cancer went into remission in July. He was preparing to go back to school properly and start a new life when cancer came back for him in October. We were heartbroken. I still remember his face when we told him that he had to continue treatment. No parent should have to witness such sadness on their child's face.” -  Rohini, mother.

‘I am praying for a miracle… my son needs help immediately’

Sri Sampath needs chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant to be completely cured of the cancer that has been making his life hell. But Balasubramaniam, a simple temple priest from Pondicherry, does not know how he can keep up with expenses.

“I borrowed money, used all available insurance funds, used up all my savings – did everything I could. I want to save my son at any cost, but there is no way I can arrange 35 lakhs in such a short period of time. I'm hoping that by some miracle, help comes my way, and I can save my son before it is too late.” - Balasubramaniam.
