    Sakthi Kumaran

    from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

"My son misses his old life, where he was an active member of the community, running his academy and engaging in social work. He longs to return to helping others, but now he’s the one who needs help. We’ve exhausted all our resources, and without the kidney transplant, Saravanan’s chances of survival are slim. It pains me to see such a bright and compassionate person suffering so much." -  Elderly father of Sakthi Kumaran

Sakthi Kumaran, a dedicated social worker and former educator, was diagnosed with kidney failure in November 2023. His journey started with severe fever and vomiting, and now he has to undergo dialysis regularly. According to the doctors, he needs a kidney transplant to survive, and a family friend has stepped forward as a donor. However, Sakthi’s life has been filled with hardships, especially after his diagnosis.

Just two years ago, he got married, but his wife left him when he became ill

"Before his diagnosis, Sakthi was running a coaching center called Sarveshwar Academy in Pollachi where he has trained more than 250 children. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Coimbatore. Beyond his professional achievements, Sakthi was deeply involved in social work. While in college, he started an initiative where he provided meals to the poor for just one rupee, successfully raising 25 lakhs for the cause." - Father

His mother passed away four years ago due to a cardiac arrest, leaving his father, who is also a diabetic patient, as his only family. Sakthi’s father tries his best to take care of him, but with his own health issues, they struggle. There is no one to cook food or provide proper care, as his wife of two years left him as soon as she got to know of his diagnosis.

'Now, Sakthi is confined to our home, and we’re struggling to make ends meet'

Despite the gravity of his condition, Sakthi remains resilient and hopeful. Despite being weak and in pain, he tries to keep his spirits high. His father speaks with a heavy heart about the challenges they face daily - as his regular dialysis and medicines cost up to INR 50,000 a month!

"My son has always been a pillar of strength for others, helping anyone in need. It’s heartbreaking to see him in this condition, and even more so because we are unable to afford the treatment that could save his life. We have spent all our savings, and I, a diabetic, can barely manage to take care of him. The cost of dialysis and the impending kidney transplant are beyond our means." - Father

This aged father is reaching out for help to ensure that Sakthi can receive the kidney transplant he urgently needs.
