“Singing bhajan and kirtan gives me the chance to remember the Almighty often. It gives me a different kind of pleasure. I have always surrendered my life to the lord, and I would not have any regret to give away my life, only if my children would have been big enough to take care of themselves. He Fell Unconscious In The Middle Of The Village Market

Thirty-four-year-old Satendra Pandey was leading a very simple life in a village in Bihar, with his wife and three children. Throughout the day he worked in his farm as a farmer, and in the evening, he often used to go to the village temple and sang bhajans, not only to entertain the fellow villagers but also to reconnect with the God.

Satendra says, “Ultimately, it is the God who is our everything. With my bhajans, I always used to thank the almighty for whatever I have got. For me it is the best life that I was leading. But everything got paused, when suddenly a month back I fell unconscious in the middle of the village market.”  

He Could Not Afford The Room Charges Of Hospital

Although he was rescued by fellow villagers, but Satendra understood that it could be serious and rushed to the multispecialty hospital nearest to his village. The doctors there recommended few tests, but Satendra and his wife decided to go to Delhi, for better treatment.

Satendra further says, “We left for Delhi with a hope that everything would turn out for good. But the moment we reached hospital; the doctor’s reaction broke our heart. The doctor asked us to admit me, as my treatment had to be started immediately. But unfortunately, we could not afford the room charges there”.

His Wife Sold His Jewellery and Land To Afford His Tests

Satendra and his wife also tried to get a seat in a govt. hospital. But seeing the three months waiting time, they did not take a chance, and this time his wife sold all her jewellery and land, and even took loan from relatives to get him admitted in another private hospital.

Satendra says with frustration, “While reaching the hospital, both of us were anxious. We knew beyond that we did not have any means, and that we had exploited all our options to arrange fund. But that money was just enough for doing the tests, and then the test results broke us completely to pieces.”

His Treatment Will Cost At Least 15 Lakhs

After initial examination the doctor realised, Satendra could have cancer. Further examination not only confirmed his cancer, but also the fact that his cancer has reached the last stage and only advance treatment can provide some hope of his survival, but the treatment will cost at least 15 lakhs.

While trying hard to control his tears, Satendra says, “All my kids are in school. In my absence who will take care of them. My wife has sold everything she has. Now how she will be able to manage without me. I just want to request everyone to allow me a chance to fulfil my responsibilities as a father. Please help me or else my family will come on road.”
