My 2-month-old baby Samadarshi Dutta is like any other infant. One glance at his smiling eyes, and it becomes difficult to even imagine how fleeting his life could be if not given urgent healthcare.

My baby suffers from severe coarctation of aorta. It is a condition in which, due to the narrowing of the aorta, the desired level of oxygen-rich blood supply to heart is affected. We found out about my son's condition when I was nine-months pregnant. Imagine finding out your child has a life-threatening disease even before he is born. It was a difficult time, but I knew I had to do everything in my power to ensure the well-being of my baby. Now he is 2-month-old and we continue to fight for his safety, his life!

A teacher by profession, my husband is the sole earning member of the family and his monthly salary is Rs 7,800. It is difficult to survive with that salary, especially if your child requires constant medical support. We have been moving hospitals every since he was born and have exhausted whatever little savings we had.

If we can't arrange the funds within next few days, I will have no other option but to take my child home. I can't help but be an helpless mother and let his fate take its course.
