44 year old Sajjad Jiwani is diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition characterized by a gradual loss of kidney function over time. Sajjad was diagnosed with CKD a year and a half back and has been under hemodialysis ever since. He has to undergo a life saving kidney transplant.
Sajjad Jiwani hails from Gujarat, but currently stays in Mumbai. He is separated from his family and has two children. He gets to see them only once in three years as they live in Hyderabad.
Sajjad currently stays in an old age home called Visamo Trust (Janabe Umme Kulsum Instituition) who currently help him financially. He does not have any family support. His parents are also dead. He is completely dependent on his old age home.
He is not able to work because of his health condition. He is from an underprivileged background and cannot afford the cost of transplantation.
Doctors have examined Sajjad and advised Kidney transplantation. This is to be done in Apollo Hospitals, Greams road, Chennai. The surgery costs almost 8 lakhs.
As he is not an earning member and as he is dependent on the old age home, they are not able to go further with the Kidney transplant unless they get the required help. Transplant has to be done at the earliest.
