"God take my life but save my daughter,"-Ranjana,Rupali's mother
My sister Rupali got married on 6th of June 2017.We all were so happy and life was going very well until we got a diagnosis report just 6-7 months later her wedding from the doctor where her treatment on kidney stone were going on saying that her both the kidneys stopped working and only way to save her is a kidney transplant. That was a very huge shock to bear for all of us including her newly married husband shekhar.All the joy and happiness were destroyed in few minutes after that report. But Rupali didi was positive and strong she decided to fight this battle too.As she is sportsperson from her childhood she always faced challenges, she won various medals and certificates in school and University in different sports. She refused to give up.Despite the disease she has great positivity towards the life,she has enormous energy within. She always motivates us and inspire us.She has always been my idol due to her sports skills.After diagnosis she were immediately put on the dialysis by doctors, a hole is made on right side of her neck and a small tube inserted for the dialysis process. we all were depressed down with this situation of panic,there are some other reasons also .Our father recently had a spine surgery just an year before Rupali's wedding, we spent already too much money carrying out that surgery.
Now after surgery he barely can work in our farms .Being farmer we need to grow something in our fields so as to feed our family, but he couldn't do that as getting difficulties after surgery,but still he didn't gave up he instead struggling to earn money by selling vegetables in village at small shop in order to save his daughter. Transplant can save her life but the family cannot afford the treatment cost- Rupali's husband Shekhar left his job in MSRTC to look after her and take her 3 times a week for dialysis. Me as a brother cant help her following the huge amount of money required for the surgery and i have just completed my engineering and i am looking for my first job.This RakshaBandhan i had a conversation with didi in that she told me "i cant come there to tie a rakhi but if that so what gift are you going to give me ,"i was just speechless .In my mind i thought how can i gift her life and i end up with tears in my eyes memorizing all the previous Raksha Bandhan we were together. The very big concern we have is our mother who lost her son and our brother ganesh few years ago in 2004-05 at his very young age of just 14 years causing a kidney stone kind of disease. My mother often cries in memories of my brother and prays god everyday ,every minute that such incident should not happen again with her daughter. She has her world is her children and she expect nothing more than her healthy children.when she came to know that Rupali didi got her both kidneys fail her first words was,"god i will die ,but save my daughter."Seeing her crying and lost it feels very painful for me.We took all we had and collected money from family friends and relatives and admitted her to hospital in Coimbatore on doctor's consultation. We spent all the money we have on her treatment and medical checkups.Now all we have is our home only and if we sale that too we will be homeless, we already sold her jewelry and other things she got on wedding. We have left nothing but the hope that we can save her.Now we really feels like helpless.
