Everyone calls him "Roll Kaku" — not because he owns a restaurant, but because his delivery bag, full of egg rolls has become a lifeline for hungry children on Kolkata’s streets. Once a government employee, Pathikrit Saha’s life changed the day a barefoot boy collapsed at his feet, begging for food. Seeing his own childhood pain in the boy’s eyes, Pathikrit quit his job and joined Zomato—not for money, but for the freedom to feed and care for street children.

As a delivery agent, he began collecting cancelled food orders—rolls, biryani, snacks—from restaurants willing to help. Seeing his dedication, five of his friends have joined him. When food orders get cancelled, Pathikrit collects them and gives the food to hungry children.


But his work didn’t stop at food. 

He set up a makeshift school right there on the platform. What started with a handful of students grew rapidly. Authorities have torn down his makeshift schools. But he never gave up. Because to him, these children are everything and if he stops, who will feed them? Today, Pathikrit runs 10 learning units across the city, providing free education, meals, clothes, and school supplies to over 400 children.

He even organizes outings for the kids—so they can experience joy, not just survival.

With no support from his family, Roll Kaku still shows up for 400 children.

Pathikrit, who grew up in poverty himself, hasn’t forgotten the pain of going hungry. Despite his family urging him to focus on his own life, he chooses to care for street children—funding their meals, school supplies, and medical needs largely from his own income. Even if he stands alone, he continues to support them every single day.
