For 30 year old Rinku, wife of Abhinav employed in a private sector, and mother to a nine year old girl, life went upside down in December 2011 when she was detected with Rheumatoid Arthiritis associated Interstitial Lung Disease, a condition which affected the thickness of bronchioles in lungs which resulted in lesser diffusion of oxygen in the body and affecting the efficiency of heart. Since then, she had been on concentrated oxygen supply 24*7 in order to do her household chores without any hindrances. However, in October 2017, her condition deteriorated and since then she is forced to admit to Bombay Hospital, at least once, every month. The doctors there, told the only way left, to save her life is to undergo a heart and dual lung transplantation as early as possible. They referred them, to Glenagles Global Health City, Chennai where, a team of doctors have agreed to perform the surgery. The total cost of the bilateral dual lung and heart transplantation alone is Rs. 38 lakh. In addition, there are other expenses, such as ECMO installation and procedure charges, Drugs and Disposables, Cross Consultation charges and expenses towards aviation incurred by the hospital for retrieving organs from outside Chennai which all adds up to estimated amount of Rs. 50 lakh.
