As Rebecca reached the old lady sitting at the corner of the room of the old age home, which Rebecca often visits, the old lady hugged her tight and started crying. Rebecca quietly asked her, ‘Mother, do you need anything?’ The old lady showed the shawl that Rebecca had gifted her during her last visit, and showed the flower she stitched on the shawl.
That’s Rebecca Rozario. A regular fifty-two-year-old woman, who has nothing but kindness in her heart, and throughout her life she has made it her mission to spread the love and kindness, as she knew nothing is more important than a heart filled with happiness and love.
Not only her family, for whom Rebecca’s warmth was like the oxygen to sustain, even the security guard at her office felt the genuine comfort and affection, whenever he remembered interacting with Rebecca.
A Heart Full Of Warmth Is Now Suffering From Unbearable Pain
But unfortunately, the heart that could not bear the smallest pain of others, is now suffering from extreme pain day and night, and is fighting for every breath. Her energy is failing every moment and her family is scared that she might give up any moment.
Dr. Loknath is completely honest, when he says, “The cancer germ is spreading fast from ovary throughout her body. Even to hope for a recovery, she needs invasive treatment at least for few more months.”
How It All Started?
A persistent pain in lower abdomen led to few tests and scans which finally revealed Ovarian Cancer. Even after series of intensive treatments for months, Rebecca did not get relief even for a week, and in no time her cancer has spread through out her body, making her weak and fragile every moment.
What It Means For Her Family?
For Rebecca’s family, it has been a collective death sentence and a never-ending battle against destiny.Her elder daughter has left her job and even pushed her marriage proposal at stake, as she is worried, even a minute distance from her mother can put her mother in danger.
Her younger daughter who is in the middle of her board exam, is in constant fight with time, fearing she might lose her mother whom she needs the most.
And her husband, who himself is managing a weak heart condition with a pacemaker, is worried about the future of his children. As Rebecca is not only his financial support, but also his source of strength and inspiration.
In a span of last 10 months, this family who once was busy sharing their happiness and kindness with the people in need, have lost everything, and is somehow clinging on to the hope that through some way or the other they are going to save Rebecca.
But How?
Their only support was the office insurance, which already got exhausted after almost a year-long intensive treatment. Now even after taking help from friends, relatives and church, they are way short of the fund they need to continue Rebecca’s treatment.
