Help Dr Rasmita Nayak Fight Cancer

An energetic young woman, a sincere doctor, a noble soul, our Rasmita is ill. She is an alumnus of our SFDC's residential education and coaching programme for +2 Science and MBBS entrance for bright but poor Adivasi and Dalit students of southern Odisha.
Since January, 2019 she has been fighting typhoid , a fibroid and high fever. Typhoid got cured but the fever persisted with high WBC count, indicating an infection and preventing the fibroid removal surgery. After a number of tests, finally the CECT scan of her abdomen suggests a possibility of cancer in one of her ovaries or/and endometrial tissue lining the uterus. For accurate diagnosis, she is going to JIPMER, Puducherry and may move to Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai for further treatment, with her parents and few close friends.
Being a first generation learner, her passion for education and service to the poor, along with parental support have helped her battle all odds to study Medicine(M.B.B.S.) at M.K.C.G. Medical college, Berhampur and become a doctor. She is indeed a role model for Adivasi(tribal) girls from her village community in Makapada. Her parents are farmers and together earn a living of Rs. 8,000-12,000 per month. Rasmita has started working as a Govt. Medical Officer in her own Gajapati district of Odisha, since the past 2 years and earns around Rs. 30,000 per month as take home pay. She has 5 younger siblings, all of whom are pursuing their higher secondary/higher education. With limited income and a large number of mouths to feed, and wards to educate, the illness is taking a toll on her health and savings.
HENCE, WE URGE YOU TO REMEMBER HER IN YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT HER FINANCIALLY FOR HER PROPER DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT , SO THAT SHE CAN STAY STRONG, FIGHT AND DEFEAT CANCER!

Dear Supporters,
Thank you for the wonderful support. I have some unfortunate news to share with you today. Dr Rasmita had undergone her first chemotherapy and was recovering from the same. During this period she had a cardiac arrest and the doctors tried reviving her but she could not make it.
Please pray for her soul to rest in peace.
