A rare condition is threatening his life
It’s been 6 years now that Priyansh has been suffering from a rare, genetic immunodeficiency called Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome. It occurs mostly in male children, and causes their immune system to not function properly. The bone marrow has difficulty producing platelets, making the child prone to bleeding - as in the case of Priyansh.“He was only 2 years old at the time, and suddenly began bleeding profusely from the nose and mouth. We rushed him to a local hospital and there, we found out that his platelet levels were extremely low. He underwent a platelet transfusion that stabilized his condition, but the doctors advised that we get him checked at a bigger hospital. Instantly, I knew something had to be wrong. I just hadn’t expected to find out that it was a condition that could take his life.” - Laxmi
A bone marrow transplant is his only chance at survival

Laxmi was disheartened just seeing the price tag that her son’s life-saving treatment came with. But she didn’t lose hope. She shuffled from one hospital to another, in every accessible area, enquiring about the treatment Priyansh would need. But it was all the same everywhere - an unimaginably large sum that she could never bear on her own.
With nothing left to keep going, she’s struggling to save her son
Priyansh is her only child, and Laxmi is single-parenting while working as a domestic help to make a living. After her husband turned his back on them and cut off all financial support 2 years ago, she’s been striving to keep her little family afloat with some help from her parents. But now, they’ve run out of every and any financial resource they had.“All the struggles and the sacrifices I’ve made until now - they are worth it if it means that my son will be here with me tomorrow. Platelet transfusions have kept him alive thus far, but it is not a cure, and neither is it a feasible option in the long run. He shows no signs of improvement, and now, his skin is littered with dark patches. Bone marrow transplant is the only way he can live a long and happy life, but I’m financially shattered. I don’t know what to do.. I can’t afford it, but I can’t lose my son like this either!” - Laxmi
8-year-old Priyansh is a bright little child with a keen interest in music. He loved learning to play musical instruments and going to school. He’s missed out on a lot of joys in life because of his condition, and wishes to be like any other child his age.
