“We thought our toughest battle with COVID-19 was finally over. Pranathi was back to her normal self, happily playing and eating well. But we never thought its effects would be life-threatening even after it's gone. Every day, I pray to God to not take her away.” - Saritha, mother

In just 10 days Pranathi’s health has worsened to such an extent that now she’s on ventilator. She needs to undergo dialysis because her kidneys aren’t functioning well. She needs oxygen support because she cannot breathe on her own.

Pranathi tested psoitive for COVID with very mild symptoms

After Shiva Kumar's mother tested positive for COVID, Pranathi and her elder sister Pragnya (11) were also affected by the viral disease. First, they were mildly symptomatic with a slight fever for a day. With timely medication and proper diet, they recovered within 5 days. Everything was fine until 10 days ago, Pranathi suddenly started having severe headaches and fever.

Pranathi(right) before her health started worsening

“We were afraid that Pranathi might get COVID again. To our relief she tested negative but we found out she has an infection in her blood. We admitted her to the hospital immediately. In just hours after starting the treatment, she started having seizures and was taken to the ICU. It all happened so fast, I’m still unable to process the fact that her life is at risk.” - Saritha

Her organs are rapidly failing

When Pranathi’s pulse rate was began falling drastically, doctors suspected something serious, and a few tests later, they found out she has MIS-C, a life-threatening condition that affects children who recover from COVID-19 and can cause multiple organ failure. She needs continued PICU care for 14 more days, to survive.

“Pranathi never had any serious illness. It breaks my heart to see her like this. She used to be very talkative. Now she's been lying unconscious for the past 10 days. I talk to her hoping that she would wake up hearing my voice, but there's no movement in her body. ” - Shiva kumar, father

They have borrowed around 12 lakhs to keep their daughter alive

“I’ve already borrowed much more than I could ever repay. But it was the only way for me to save my daughter. The doctor told us that she’s responding to the treatment and with prolonged PICU stay she’ll get better. But I have no money left to continue her treatment. Please help me save my daughter.” - Shiva kumar

Shiva Kumar works as a typist in criminal court, with a decent income to look after his family of five - his mother, two daughters and wife. But ever since Pranathi was admitted to the hospital, he has exhausted all his savings and has been seeking help from others to continue his daughter’s treatment. He now has no other option left, but to seek your help to save his child.

Pranathi is silently battling for her life each day. Her
treatment has to be continued for 14 more days, no matter what, or she could lose her life. Her parents have spent everything they had and everything they had borrowed to save her, but it isn’t enough.

Only your contribution will help these parents save their daughter.
