    This fundraiser will benefit

    Poor And Needy patients

    from New Delhi, Delhi

A good look around our community is all it takes to understand how the lower-income strata including drivers, house helps, vegetable vendors and security guards, are going about their daily activities despite their underlying painful, life-threatening health conditions. A lot of these can be resolved with suitable surgeries. Unfortunately, the first thought that comes to their minds when treatment is suggested is not “how”, but how it’s “not possible”.

HexaHealth has been bridging this very gap by providing assistance to patients throughout their surgery journey, while addressing their many apprehensions & difficulties, including financial constraints. But with the staggering number of cases they receive daily, it is now becoming a challenge for HexaHealth to cater to the lower strata. According to the PHFI (Public Health Foundation of India), almost 23% of the sick in India cannot afford healthcare.

From security guards to house helps fighting medical conditions, HexaHealth is a ray of hope to many

Yes, a majority of Indians are buried under responsibilities that often take precedence over their own health issues. They end up putting a huge chunk of their incomes towards sustenance rather than healthcare. HexaHealth wishes to make sure such individuals get the treatment they deserve with a path-breaking initiative - #ifpossible - a venture that helps raise funds for those in need of medical attention. There are many lives which it aims to benefit - from security guards to chai sellers to house help, who are struggling with medical conditions.

Prabhakar is a security guard whose daily commute consists of an hour-long train journey struggling with severe knee osteoarthritis pain.

"Getting down the train and taking those flights of stairs right after, is much more gruelling for me than my entire shift of duty. A knee replacement surgery is needed but I don't have insurance to cover that. My daughter is almost of a marriageable age, so I can't afford to deplete my life-savings on this surgery." - Prabhakar, Security Guard

A delay in appropriate medical treatment can escalate into a life-threatening condition, just like Deepak’s gallstone surgery, which he has been postponing for months now.

Even a minor bump on the road while driving the cab causes a shooting pain in my stomach and this goes on for 14 hours during my shift.I am torn between having to send money to my family or get my gallbladder stones removed surgically. With expenses increasing exponentially, the month seems to end faster leaving us with empty pockets again.” - Deepak, cab driver

HexaHealth caters to almost 3,000 surgeries a month - from piles treatment to gall bladder removal to liver transplant. For each surgery, HexaHealth contributes in invaluable ways:
  • Identifying the right hospital and medical professional, most suitable for that particular surgery.
  • Assisting throughout the surgery journey from admission to discharge & post-operative care, HexaHealth ensures patients are able to focus on their own surgery & recovery.
  • Aiding them with funding and insurance to streamline the medical billing process.

It is unfortunate that because of financial constraints, the ‘right’ to good health usually ends up becoming a ‘luxury’ for such patients. They do not have insurance support or coverage under government benefits. And they depend on their immediate earnings for their daily needs, there are hardly any savings leftover that can cover the cost of medical treatment. At HexaHealth, our efforts are to ensure nobody is denied a healthy life only because they are shouldering responsibilities – be it financial requirements of the family, children’s education or any other pressing commitments.” - Says Ankur Gigras, Co-founder, HexaHealth

It is becoming a challenge for HexaHealth to help 100+ needy patients waiting for their surgeries

Among all the cases HexaHealth receives, 100-200 people are still unable to go for the required surgery because of a shortage of funds.

"For us, it can be a mere statistic. But for that particular family, it is about their only breadwinner. The situation can potentially become an endless web of financial troubles for the entire family. We want to extend help to whoever needs it, and it’s not just on a first-come-first-serve basis. We believe Milaap can help us reach that vision through its trusted platform of donors." - Vikas Chauhan, COO, HexaHealth

HexaHealth, through its partner network of over 500+ hospitals and doctors, aims to treat patients with the following conditions:
  • Piles/fissure/fistula
  • Hernia
  • Knee replacement
  • Hip replacement
  • CABG
  • Cataract
  • Cornea transplant
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Kidney stones
  • Dialysis
  • Varicose veins
  • Liver transplant
  • Gall stone

HexaHealth shall support patients based upon the following criterion:
  • A patient’s medical condition is diminishing his/her ability to work productively
  • The patient should be capable to work post successful treatment
  • The patient’s age should be below 50 Yrs. of age
  • A patient’s ailment should be curable only through surgery as per the doctor’s advice
  • A household earning per month should be below 25k/month
  • The patient does not have any insurance policy coverage (group/individual)
  • The patient is not eligible under any government scheme (Ayushman Bharat, CGHS, ESI, state subsidy, etc)
  • Treatment costs in a NABH hospital should be below INR 3L

Timely treatment for these patients can enhance their living conditions, their families’ standards, and improve kids’ education. These patients will never get the treatment done due to a lack of funds available for treatment. Some of these conditions, if not attended to on time can be life-threatening as well. We urge all readers to come forward and support these patients.

Any contribution will immensely help their families. Do contribute and share this campaign link with your friends and family.
