Help Us Care For Our Paralysed Dogs!

Help Us Take Care of Our 10 Disabled Resident Dogs!

Humane Animal Society (Coimbatore) was set up as a non-profit over a decade ago to help injured/stray/abandoned animals in Coimbatore. Our activities include Animal Birth Control (ABC), Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) drives, and rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of injured and abandoned animals. More than 500 animals pass through our two shelters each month.

We take care of many disabled animals, who are our permanent residents. These include three-legged cats and dogs, paralysed dogs and pups, and blind dogs.

We are trying to raise funds for the care and maintenance of our paralysed dogs. Each of them has a heart-wrenching story, having lost the use of their hind legs in road accidents. Our vets and staff work hard to save as many lives as possible, but unfortunately, sometimes it comes at the cost of losing a limb or two. These dogs and cats cannot survive on their own, nor do they stand a chance at getting adopted - hence they join our sanctuary for life. Many of our resident paralyzed dogs are pros at moving around in their carts. In addition to medical treatment, we also give these dogs regular physical therapy to keep them active and healthy.

We currently care for 10 paralysed dogs. It costs us INR 3000 to care for one dog for a month, which comes to more than INR 3,50,000 per year for 10 dogs. This includes their food and medical care.

Take a look at our miracle babies - Ralph, Judy, Minky, Anik, Harry, Scooby, Simran, Sriya, Salma, and Tyler:

Any amount that you can contribute will go a long way in feeding these animals and keeping them healthy and happy. They are suffering the consequences of human negligence, for no fault of their own! No amount is too small. You can make a difference in the life of a helpless creature by donating today!

Donations can be made in any currency. Donors who file taxes in India are eligible for exemption under Section 80(G).

Dear Donors,

We are very grateful for your kind donations that came in to help our 10 paralyzed pooches live a more dignified life every day! Your thoughtful donations have enabled us to provide for their medical care, nutritious food as well as emotional happiness. Your donation of INR 3000 or USD 50 will support one special pet for a whole month. We have also been able to provide them a puppy-pen, which is a safe place to hang-out with their friends without fear of straying too far and getting into too much trouble! In these images, you will see them having a whole lot of fun.

Here is a huge big thanks on behalf of our special pets, from all of us at Team HAS!

Dear Supporters,

Two Fabulous Days at HAS with the Amazing Rachel Bean!

Guess who showed up at our shelter this week? It was none other than one of the best friends of our lovely fur-buddies - Rachel Bean, RVN from the UK! We are truly at a loss for words to express our heartfelt thanks to Rachel and her partner for taking time off in the midst of a personal trip to squeeze in two full days with us at the HAS shelter. Of course, Rachel has become a household name at HAS after her previous visit in September of last year when she conducted the Canine First-Aid and Wound-Management course for us.

This time, again, it was lots of learning to help our differently-abled pooches. During these two days, Rachel conducted two sessions each of Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy while also imparting training to our volunteers. It was fun learning from her, as she patiently explained the science behind every step. Our pooches were immensely benefitted at the end of each day and it was such a gratifying experience.

Ever eager to share her knowledge, Rachel's passion for her chosen profession was eminently evident. Time-proven techniques of TTouch bands were demonstrated for a couple of cases and the immediate results were more than remarkable. We were spell-bound seeing the instantaneous change it brought about to the posture of Bella. Bella was recently affected by tick fever and was showing signs of Ataxia. Much to our surprise, she was able to walk more steadily after applying the TT band. We also learned about the healing power of various massaging techniques in the span of these two days.
We are sure that the experience gained in this workshop will help us to bring positive changes in the lives of all our rescue animals.
