    Nilesh Kumar Sahu

    from Sarangarh, Chhattisgarh

My name is Nilesh Kumar Sahu, I am 41 years old. Until last year, I was a driver—a daily wage worker. I wasn’t rich, but I was a proud husband, a father of two beautiful daughters, and the only breadwinner in my family. Then came the day that changed everything: in February 2024, I was diagnosed with kidney failure. Since March 2025, I’ve been on dialysis three times a week. It’s not just painful… It’s exhausting. Some days, I come back from the hospital too weak to even hold a spoon.

I’ve lost my job. I’ve lost my strength. And slowly, I feel like I’m losing time
Our elder daughter just passed her 10th exams. It should have been a moment of joy—a celebration for the whole family. But I couldn’t even stand up. Our younger daughter, just 12, watches everything in silence. She doesn’t say much, but I can see the worry in her eyes. I was getting treated in a government hospital near our village, but the wrong treatment gave me infections. I wasn’t recovering. I was only getting worse. That’s when we decided to go to the city.

The transplant costs ₹12 lakhs, and we have no way to afford it
We sold grains from our small farm, lived off government food, and borrowed from relatives. We’ve left our village, traveling 1,400 kilometers to stay near a hospital that can do the transplant safely. We are paying rent and living in a tiny room. Every rupee goes to dialysis or medicines. My parents—old and tired—stay back home with my daughters, praying every day that their son survives.

He’s not just my husband… he’s our daughters’ world. If giving my kidney will bring him back to us, I will do it without thinking twice.- wife of Nilesh

I’ve had over 45 painful dialysis sessions so far
The transplant is my only chance now. I’m asking for life. I’m asking to be able to walk my daughters to school again… to work with dignity again…Please, help me get there. Every rupee you donate helps me take one more step toward recovery. Help me fight. Help me live. Help me return home.
