About Akriti Heer-

People who possess will power and endurance end up creating something marvelous and beautiful. The beauty however comes from inside of the person whose sweat, hard work and determination creates magic and transforms the dream into a reality. Akriti Heer, a young girl from small village in Himanchal Pradesh has what it needs to be the perfect idol of perseverance and success in her field. Mountaineering was both her passion and dream, which she realized long ago.

In 2014, Akriti has done something incredible over which all Indians should take pride. She was only 20 years of age when she climbed the highest peak of Europe, Mt. Elbrus (18,510 feet). Alongside she also got her name enlisted in the Limca Book of Records for being the youngest Indian woman to do so.This exemplary milestone just shows a small part of the bigger picture. Her father, who supported her from the beginning, made it possible for her to grab this achievement. He took a loan of Rs. 3 lakhs for her expedition at a time when she did not get any financial help from outside.

Mountaineering and the Everest expedition-

It is important to know that mountaineering is both risky and expensive. The equipment, which are employed, are very costly but also very important in order to survive the worst conditions of extreme temperatures, altitude sickness, hypothermia, chilly winds, skin disorders and avalanches. Now she wants to climb all seven summits of the world, and she is ready for the challenge no matter what it takes. Her next mission in 2018 is to conquer the Mount Everest and despite all odds and challenges, Akriti is practicing hard to become a part of the expedition next year. My parents could not fulfill the cost of Mount Everest they sacrificed so much for me. My dream is to represent India at the top of the World and make my country

Risk & Challenges  -

However, the thing that is posing a serious challenge to her Everest expedition is the financial deficit. The expedition would require 23 lacs, which is certainly a large amount, and for a talent like Akriti her dream matters a lot.The risks are oblique. Based on statistics there is a chance that Akriti could die because of altitude sickness, temperature, weather, falls, crevasses, Avalanche, summit fever etc. However, as she has faced these challenges before, she is ready to face them again.

How these funds will be used

• 7 lacs for the registration of Mountain Everest expedition from Nepal Government
• 4 lacs for the two gas cylinders
• 8 lacs for the mountaineering equipments
• 2 lacs for the company that will provide food, tents, gear
