Last year in December, I got biggest shock of my life. I was suffering from backache from 4 months. Every doctor that I visited thought that it’s just a spine/back pain due to the nature of work in IT field. I was referred to physiotherapy/homeopathy/Ayurveda and other multiple options. Nothing was working on me and then my doctor asked me to do a CT scan.  The CT reported that I am having lymph nodes in my back and they are the root cause of the pain.

 

My doctor got suspicious and asked me to do a laparoscopy to understand the nature of the nodes. The biopsy report was out and it clearly reported that the cells in the lymph nodes are cancerous but at this point they were still not sure about the origin of the tumor. As part of colonoscopy procedure, the origin of the tumor was detected in my large intestine and it was reported as big in size.  I got the specimen tested in 3-4 different labs and all the labs reported the cancerous nature of the cells and tumor. I was shocked and had to accept this truth that I am having colorectal cancer and it is currently in stage -2.

 

I was referred to an oncologist. The treatment started in last week of December. Currently I am undergoing multiple cycles of chemotherapy in Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli. After 2 cycles of chemo, my back pain got cured. However, I have to complete the remaining 12 cycles of chemotherapy and then followed by a surgical procedure to get the tumor removed from the intestine.  The entire treatment will last for 6 months approx.

 

My oncologist is confident that this is still curable in 6 months. I am visiting the hospital every Saturday for my chemo. My every visit is costing me around 1.2L. My Insurance of 12L is about to expire by end of Feb.

Post Insurance, I still have to spend around 24L to complete the treatment. I was able to arrange 15L with the help of my family. I am short of 8-9L and trying to get help from all the corners of my life.
