Solidarity For Developing Communities (SFDC), a non-profit organization, working for socially, economically, geographically excluded, and marginalized communities of Dalits (formerly called untouchables) and Adivasis (primitive tribal groups) of Odisha, India, for the last 25 years. Education is the means of transformation. The bright but poor students of these communities are encouraged to dream big and aspire to break the generational poverty cycle, by entering main stream society, while representing the interest of their deprived communities by becoming dedicated professionals.
Manabesh Badaseth was 17 years old when he was identified by SFDC to represent his community, and be educated as a doctor. Since then, Manabesh has worked hard and has competed to secure a seat in a medical college, which is uncommon for students in his community. If he can enroll and complete his courses, Manabesh will be able to serve his own community in the very interior district of Kandhamal, in the Odisha state of India. His father is a farmer and brothers are labourers, working hard to make ends meet. But that is not enough. Manabesh's education requires more money. Your help is needed to materialize his dream of becoming the 1st doctor, and role model for his community of Dalits in his village of Upper Madhuguda of Kothagada block of Kandhamal district in Odisha. It will also go a long way in fulfilling the health needs of the villages in his district, in the long run.
Thank you for your support.
