    Javed Ramjan Choudhari

    from Pune, Maharashtra

3rd June 2015, Javed lost his right leg to a truck accident. Due to unavailability of timely medical assistance the doctors had to ampute his leg above the knee. Despite of many financial constraints his family somehow managed his medical expenses. Javed's father a farmer by profession could not afford an artificial limb to his son.

Javed was completing his final year of B.sc agriculture when he met with an accident. Javed was 1st from his family to have completed his graduation. Javed was an University level dancer, an ace kabbadi player and bright in academics. Belonging to a farmer's family Javed was a ray of hope to his father, who would bring name to his family.
After his accident Javed decided to follow his dreams rather than succumb to injuries. He enrolled for a wheelchair basketball camp in Hyderabad, with consistent efforts & strong will he eventually represented the Delhi state team at the nationals in within a year.
Mr. Brad Ness , an Australian coach, trained him considering his performance & efforts. Javed is now working towards qualifying for world championships representing Indian wheelchair basketball team.
During this entire journey, financing his sports career was a difficult task but his family and friends supported as much as they could. The need of an artificial limb was always felt when he decided to run marathons for inclusivity in sports for disabled people. With many well wishers helping his cause  a very crucial spare-part of the limb (knee joint Otto-bock) worth  Rs.2lakh was donated by Mrs. Bindu S Naik. Javed now needs to design his limb which will have a customisation cost Rs.61430.
With an experience of marathon to his hand, which Javed ran on crutches and attempting the next marathon just within 45 days, Javed has been choosen as the "Ambassador for Inclusivity" at the Pune half marathon 2018.
Limb sponsored through this campaign will support Javed's efforts for inclusivity of disabled people in various walks of life and end prejudices.
Javed has started preparing for UPSC Civil Services exam and wishes to inspire people to dream beyond disabilities and never lose hope.
