How a trek ended in tragedy and what you can do to help the victims -
On March 11th, many young people (with many of them being women) united to celebrate the International Women’s Day by taking part in a trekking expedition in Tamil Nadu’s Theni Hills when a forest fire broke out.
This heart-rending tragedy claimed the lives of three bright engineers and colleagues from PayPal - Subha Selvaraj, Punitha Jayasankar and Sai Vasumathi Krishnamurthi, Subha, from the small town of Thittakudi, was one of the first in her family to work for a big company and dreamed of making the world a better place.
Punitha was a newly-wed, and she was a caregiver to her now-devastated family.
Sai was a very compassionate and caring person who brought smiles to many faces every day and supported her family through thick and thin.
While nothing can possibly console their grieving families at this time, we’ve had an outpouring of support from well-wishers across the world seeking ways to alleviate the suffering of the families or contribute to a non-profit of their choice. This forum is intended as a means to facilitate that, with all proceeds being directed to the family or causes that they want to support, which may include supporting the villagers who tirelessly helped rescue victims of the horrific tragedy.
