He was lying on the bathroom floor and could not move

It was a usual Monday night. Deandayal Singh from Nagpur, Maharashtra, was preparing to retire for the day, after having dinner with his family. He chatted with his daughters about their day and then played for a while with his two-year old son. Before going to bed, he went to the restroom, but did not come out.

Narrating about the day, his wife Sunaina Singh says, “After a while when he was not coming out, I was getting restless. When an hour passed, I could not stop myself and started banging the door. When he did not respond, I rushed to our neighbours and with their help broke open the door. He was lying on the bathroom floor and could not move. I called my brother and other family members and took him to hospital”. 

His condition deteriorated after taking him to hospital

When Deandayal was admitted to hospital, he was still conscious and could recognize his family members. After examining, the doctor declared that he had a stroke, and needed to stay in hospital for couple of days till he gets fine. But on the third day because of doctor’s negligence, Deandayal almost lost his life, and the family had to shift him to another hospital.

Sunaina laments, “Instead of getting better, his condition was deteriorating after taking him to hospital. In addition, on the third day, when my sister-in-law went to see him, he was till asleep. And that was twelve hours after he was put to sleep with sedatives. She went to doctor, but the doctor ignored any concern. When he did not wake up after fifteen hours, we shifted him to another hospital.” 

I went blank when the doctor uttered the word Brain Hemorrhage

What they found out after shifting him to another hospital, turned out to be more devastating than their expectation. The doctor after investigating Deandayal, has revealed that owing to excessive dosage of blood thinner, the veins in the brain have started bleeding, which means Deandayal has got the fatal Brain Hemorrhage and has gone to coma. And the doctor needs to conduct immediate brain surgery to save Deandayal from dying.

Sunaina says, “I went blank, when the doctor uttered the word Brain Hemorrhage. I felt as if life had suddenly slapped me on my face. I could not move for a while, and then I saw my children and broke down in the doctor’s cabin itself.” 

Please help us, for we will lose him if his operation is not done on time

Considering the urgency of the situation, the family does not even have the option to ask time from the doctor. Whatever they had, they already had spent on the two weeks hospital stay of the patient. In these two weeks Sunaina had even mortgaged her jewellery, and had to take help from her brother and sister-in-law.

"The doctor said, his treatment will cost more than ten lakhs, which will include the cost of surgery, room charge, medicine charge, post-surgery care, etc. After giving away all our savings, I do not have a penny left to buy my children’s next meal. As my husband is the only earning member in the family, I even could not pay for my daughters’ school fees. Me and my children do not know how to imagine a day without him. Please help us, for we will lose him, if his operation is not done on time." - Sunaina, while weeping continuously.
