“I lost my wife the year my son was born. For seven years, he has been my whole world, my only family. Now he is lying in the ICU, fighting for his life. If I lose him too, I have nothing left to live for.” — Kalicharan, father
Kalicharan waited five years for the joy of becoming a father. His son’s birth was a blessing, but that happiness was short-lived. His wife passed away due to a normal fever that turned deadly a few months later, leaving him to raise their son on his own. To provide for his child, Kalicharan worked as a halwai, a sweet maker, earning just enough to meet basic necessities a month. With help from the boy’s grandmother, he managed to balance work and parenting, dreaming of giving his son a good education and a better life.

He didn’t expect life to take this cruel turn…
One rainy day, his seven-year-old son was playing on the rooftop when he slipped and fell from a height of 15 feet. He suffered a severe brain injury and was rushed to the ICU in critical condition. Doctors said the injury was life-threatening and that he would need intensive care to survive.
“I wasn’t there when it happened. When I got the call, I ran to the hospital, my heart pounding with fear. I just kept praying that my son would survive. When I saw him covered in blood, lying unconscious with tubes all around him, I felt like my world was collapsing. I couldn’t even hold his hand. ”— Kalicharan

‘I wanted him to grow up and do well in life. Now I can’t even hear his voice’
Kalicharan’s son was a bright and curious boy studying in second grade. He loved school, enjoyed learning, and always asked questions about the world. Kalicharan had big dreams for him. He wanted to see his son achieve everything he could not. Now, the boy lies in the ICU, barely conscious and unable to speak. Kalicharan misses hearing his voice, his laughter, and his innocent questions.
“When I return from work, I think of the days when he used to tell me about his school, the way he used to beg me to buy him ice cream. Now, when I sit next to him, he is silent. I keep wishing to hear him call me Papa again.”— Kalicharan

‘I have nothing left to save him with. Please help me’
Kalicharan earns ₹12,000 a month and pays ₹3,000 in rent. He has already spent ₹2 lakhs on treatment by borrowing from others and using up all his savings. But ICU treatment is beyond his means. Still, he goes to work every day because he has no other option. If he stops working, they won’t even have food to eat. With no relatives to help, Kalicharan stands alone, desperate to save his only child.“If I lose him, my life ends too. I wake up every day hoping to see him open his eyes, hear him call me Papa again. Please… don’t let me lose my only reason to live. Help me save my son.” — Kalicharan
