    Burhan Uddin

    from Bhadrachalam, Telangana

“We dreamt of a bright future for our son, but now we’re struggling to save him. The past two months were nothing less than a nightmare for us, as we helplessly watched our little one cry his lungs out every day because of the pain unknown to us. A few days ago, we found blood in his stool. The doctors said now only a transplant can save his life.” - Asghar, father

He was born without a gallbladder

A month after his birth, Burhan's parents found out his eyes were suspiciously yellow. They immediately took him to the hospital and after a few tests found out that he doesn’t have a gallbladder due to which the acids in the body that are supposed to be processed by the gallbladder are flushed into the blood.

“We were scared when we were told about Burhan’s condition. The doctors said a Kasai procedure would make him better. Burhan was just 2 months old and I didn’t want him to go through such terrible pain. Yet, it was the only way for me to save my son. But just when I thought he was finally getting better, his stomach started swelling up.” - Sakeena, mother

After an unsuccessful Kasai surgery, only a liver transplant can save him

The Kasai surgery that was supposed to make Burhan better turned out to be ineffective when he started bleeding through his stool and his stomach started swelling. He hasn't had a proper night's sleep for the past two months and vomits every time he drinks milk. Burhan's health will only worsen if he doesn’t undergo a liver transplant immediately.

“He’s too small to go through all this. He is yet to recover from the Kasai surgery and now we have to take him to the hospital every 3 days. It's really painful to see him being administered with so many injections. The doctors said I can donate a part of my liver to save my son. But I need your help for him to undergo the transplant.” - Sakeena, mother

Amidst grief and loss during COVID, Burhan brought joy into their lives

“My wife has already lost two most important people in her life. Burhan was her only hope during such times. She’ll be completely shattered if I cannot save him. I plead with you to help me afford a liver transplant for my son. It’s the only way I can save my family.” - Asghar, father

Sakeena lost her mother to COVID and her brother to a sudden paralytic attack last year. She seeks comfort in her son amidst the grief and loss. But, each day she watches her son struggle, she fears losing him.

Asghar works as an accountant in a private firm. He has already used up all his savings and sought help from everyone he knows for the treatment and Kasai surgery expenses. Now affording 22 lakhs for Burhan’s liver transplant is beyond his strength and capacity. With your help, he can put an end to Burhan’s pain and struggle.
