From past 3 months, I have been roaming around the streets of Mumbai with my wife's medical files in my hand. Reason? My wife, Bilkish Fruitwala is very sick. She needs to undergo Bypass surgery at the earliest. Every hospital I go to, they want more and more money for the surgery and I have no option but to arrange for it to save my wife.

My wife is 57-year-old and is a heart-patient. She has already undergone a bypass 10 years back. Now her ailment is back and is making her suffer. Bilkish has been having breathing trouble for past few months now, but she never told me. She kept mum because we are poor. And maybe because she thought no one would want to save her. Given our experience with seeking hospitals and doctors to perform surgery so far, I would say it's a fair concern.
In past three months we have found out that if a person is sick and is as old as me and wife, it's okay to let them die. Even if they don't have to! After all,  why should they waste money on someone who is going to die anyway? This breaks my heart. I can't think that way, can I ?  My wife and I have been together for last 30 years. We have raised a beautiful family together, have seen everything that is to see. How can I ever turn to her and say, 'Bilkis, you're now 57-year-old now, there is no need for you to live.' She is companion, my most loyal friend and I'll do anything to keep her by my side.
Every hospital I have been to has closed their doors on us because we are poor and old. Who are they to do decide whether or not my wife should live? Bilkis wants to live a healthy life as long as she can, and that is what matters. And it is only because of her zest for life do I go around hospitals, day and night, begging them to treat Bilkis. Luckily, we have found a doctor who agreed to perform the surgery at a reduced cost, but we are still in urgent need of funds.

The estimated cost of the treatment is 4 lakhs and it is well beyond my means. I am a 60-year-old retired person. I have a son who is married with two kids. He is a driver by profession and is finding it hard to manage his family and pay off the loans.
My wife is really scared and worried. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night, crying and begging me to take care of myself if she happens to die tomorrow. Please don't let this happen.

Please help me raise money for my wife's surgery. She is all I have in this world. Please don't let her die because she is old and poor!
