I never imagined that one day I would be called upon to save my own brother’s life. When the doctors told us that his liver had failed completely, and that without a transplant he would not survive, I did not even pause to think. I immediately told them that I would donate my liver to him. I hadn't even known if it was possible at that time, but it turns out that it is. He has always stood by me, always been my strength, and now it is my turn to be his. But I can't do this alone.

My brother first began suffering from bleeding from his teeth and gums. We thought it was just a dental problem, and for more than a year he took medicines and visited dentists. But the bleeding never stopped. Eventually, we were referred to specialists who told us it might be something deeper. That was the beginning of a journey filled with endless hospital visits, painful tests, and answers we were never prepared to hear.

In one hospital, doctors ran many investigations and revealed that his liver was not functioning properly. It was affecting his blood and platelets, and that was why the bleeding would not stop. Medicines, diets, and regular check-ups became part of our lives. After a year, when nothing changed, we went to a bigger hospital for further treatment. There the doctors diagnosed him with cirrhosis at the second stage. They told us medicines might control the symptoms, but he could never be cured without a transplant. We followed every instruction, prayed for improvement, and hoped against hope. But this June, our worst fear came true. The doctors confirmed that his liver had failed completely, and that a transplant was the only way forward.

From that moment, his health has collapsed rapidly. A few months ago, his condition worsened when ammonia levels in his body shot up, clouding his brain and leaving him disoriented. He could not understand what was happening around him. Today, his stomach is swollen, his body is weak, and he needs help even for the smallest of tasks. Watching him in this state breaks my heart every day, but what hurts even more is the innocent question from his little daughter; she keeps asking when her father will come home. None of us have an answer to give her, and her silent tears are harder to bear than my own.

Our family has already spent 7–8 lakhs over the years, but it has not been enough. My brother had a small clothing business, but he had to shut it down five months ago because he was too sick to continue. His wife is a homemaker who has done everything in her power, from selling her jewelry to closing the shop, just to keep him alive until now. They are surviving only because our relatives help with basic food and needs. But the cost of a liver transplant is far beyond what we can manage, and we are left with nothing more to give.

Today, as his sister, I have the chance to protect him in return by donating my liver. Without the money for the operation, my willingness alone is not enough. I beg you from the bottom of my heart: please help me save my brother.
