Suresh, a loving husband and father of three kids lives in Bangalore with his family. On September 28 2016, Suresh and his family received a devastating news. He was diagnosed with Metastatic Carcinoma lung cancer. The cancer had spread to other parts of his body (his eyes, lung and backbone). Doctors (at Shankara Cancer Hospital, Bangalore) recommended chemotherapy in order to attempt to shrink or slow down the growth of tumors.

Suresh’s world turned upside down. He is the sole bread winner in the family and makes only a small income. The illness and the treatment has prevented him from work the last several months (and will prevent him from work for the foreseeable future). But the medical bills are racking up (not to mention the livelihood of his family has been impacted).

He has undergone six chemotherapy sessions so far. And now the doctors have prescribed oral chemotherapy pills for 1 year. These pills cost around Rs. 80,000 ($1200) per month. The treatment so far has cost him nearly Rs.4,00,000 ($6000) which he was somehow able to pay with the help of kith and kin. But he has now run out of options and can no longer pay for further treatment but he needs these pills to continue the treatment for another 1 year at least.
