    Jugani and Tanvi

    from New Delhi, Delhi

We, Samiksha Shubhadarshinee, Garima Baweja, and Devyani Verma have worked and are continuing to work together to create excellent education for our children as a part of the prestigious Teach for India Fellowship.

What is Teach for India?

Teach for India is a non-profit organization which provides a two-years fellowship program which operates with the vision that “One day all children will attain an excellent education.” The organization works in various government and low-income private schools, to provide children with a holistic education.

Who are the kids and why this fundraiser?

The fellowship journey has been everything but a breeze. We have had our share of struggles. The education crisis runs wide and deep. We were blessed with a classroom filled with girls who wanted to change the world. Jugani  and Tanvi, products of the same class, different stories, different backgrounds, but one mission- we will change the world for the better. We always knew they would bring wonderful things their way and they did. They got selected for United World College of the Atlantic, Wales and Mahindra United World College, India, respectively.

Jugani, hailing from a religious minority community and from a background where education was not necessary for girls, she has come a long way. She has been in Teach For India since Grade 5 and has been a rank holder since then. Her achievements include:

  • Student Mentor with Panaah
  • Recipient of Girl Child Motivation Award
  • Merit Scholarship to Minorities
  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarship
  • Fellow with School of Citizens

She wishes to make it possible for girls like her to be able to dream and achieve. She wishes to break the gender barriers for herself and her younger siblings.

Tanvi Shukla joined Teach For India in 9th grade.  Tanvi is a budding writer and is very vocal about gender rights in particular and against any form of oppression, in general. She has been a:

  • Fellow with School of Citizens
  • Alfaaz Fellow
  • Fellows of the Future
  • Intern with The Education Tree
  • Intern with CRY
  • Intern with She the People TV

She also undertook a project on Cyberbullyingof teenagers. She is a gifted doodling artist. Tanvi aims to change society and the world for good. She believes in the power that students hold and is ready to break all the glass ceilings coming her way.

Why UWC?

United World's College is a group of institutions functioning in 18 countries. They are committed to provide an educational experience to the future leaders of tomorrow who are passionate about making a positive impact on the world.

What help do we need?

They managed to secure a 100% Scholarship on Tuition Fees!! Still, they have to make payments for local commutation , administrative expenses, collateral , and other miscellaneous fees amounting to a total of INR 1,07,000/-, which both their families cannot afford without your support; the average monthly income limit for their households being less than INR 10,000.

"It takes a village to raise a child.".

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these two girls. They are highly motivated and hardworking individuals, who instead of all odds, have always kept their dreams alive, the dream of changing the world for good. The exposure that they would receive from being students at UWC is immense and we can't sum it up in words what impact this opportunity will have on their lives in the long run.

We truly believe in both of them and are certain that they would do wonders for themselves and the country, if given the chance. Every single penny matters to us. Please donate in whatever capacity you can.

We, our students and their families would be forever grateful to you for this!
