The Government Urdu Higher Primary School in Shivajinagar in Bengaluru dates back to the pre-independence British era.
The school, which at its peak had some 800 students has now dropped down to 30 students. The school lacks basic facilities forcing many students to either look for another school or worse to quit education at an early age.
Our assessment along with a series of discussions with teachers, principal and neighbours has made us conclude that, the school is in a dire need of an infrastructure overhaul, which will increase the number of students and the quality of education imparted here.
The 122-year-old school is in a poor condition, and our intervention, will help renovate it to guarantee a nicer and safer environment for students and staff.
The school is in an immediate need of a transport facility, and a sports court.
We at Small Appeal have already arranged an auto rickshaw for transport, however we need your help in building a sports court at the school.
Sports Court
The school has a large ground meant for sports, which has not been utilised so far. We have started with cleaning the ground, which had turned into a garbage dumping yard, due to neglect.
We want to build a sports facility on the ground with a football, badminton, cricket and a volleyball court. We believe, that every young person should have the opportunity to benefit from sports. A sports facility in an under privileged area like Shivajinagar will also be an agent of change.

This is what we need the funds for:
1) 2 side Football goal posts, with nets and footballs
2) 1 Cricket kit
3) Badminton posts, with net, rackets, and shuttle cocks
4) Volleyball
We recognise that if we are to have any chance of shortening the literacy gap in our country, government schools must be renovated and revitalised.
