Gold Heart Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Chennai, which works towards helping underprivileged children with their education. The foundation was established in 2007 by Mrs. Sripriya.
Gold Heart Foundation has 30 grooming centers across Tamil Nadu, (25 in Thiruvannamalai and 5 in Chennai). We have 900 kids at our grooming centers. We focus on imparting values and personality development, apart from academics, through regular activities which help them develop their skills and qualities over a period of time. The grooming centers are located in children’s villages/ localities, and classes are held every evening for 2-3 hours. The proximity of centers to the children’s homes ensure regular attendance and parents' involvement in their children's development. We also help in paying the school or college fees of underprivileged children. Besides supporting children's education, we also conduct blood donation camps 5-6 times each year. We conduct the camps in colleges, schools, and workplaces and the donated blood is given to government hospitals.
One of the students we are helping is Purnendhu. He is a very hardworking child who just graduated from school this year. He lost his father at a young age and struggles to make ends meet. He scored 87% in his 12th board exams and joined a course in mechanical engineering in one of Chennai's reputed engineering colleges, St. Peters College of Engineering. A newspaper boy in the mornings, tutor for 10th - 12th std kids in the evenings, and a technician during holidays, he saved about INR 10,000 for his college. The rest would be funded by Gold Heart Foundation.
This year, we will be continuing with our program of providing basic stationery for the kids in our grooming centres. Each kit would consist of a pen, eraser, sharpener, scale and 2 books and we need 900 such kits for our children. For this academic year, we are in need of INR 41,500 INR procure these.
We request you to come forward and contribute for procuring these kits to help us in our efforts for educating the kids at our centers.
PS : We just collected 5,000 INR off Milaap Campaign.
