Games room for children of Kumaon

Pindar Valley is situated in the district of Bageshwar,Uttarakhand and falls under Kapkote block. This region nests famous Himalayan peaks like sundardunga, pindari, kafni and many others.  Is characterised with remote settlements and environmental degradation. Due to certain similar issues modernity has not been able to penetrate this bubble which is creating drawbacks in many spheres, one of them is education.
The primary schools in this region faces problems like lack of awareness and attention towards a child’s development. The Overall development of a child is hampered due to lack of manpower, connectivity and proper resources. The mind-set of the children gets limited which is affecting the future of the village in the longer run.   Our Idea is to create community games rooms and creative spaces in villages of this valley for a better development of life skills (which is often overlooked in recent curriculum) in children. This space shall aim to enable children to excel and express in different ways and develop an overall growth of an individual and society as a whole. This idea is mainly drawn after coming across numbers of children in such remote ill equipped schools, who are becoming the products of layered negligence under this one sided education. And we realized that this idea shouldn't be limited to the school space rather it should be stretched out in the community to facilitate an open space for all present in the village.

We are undergoing a fellowship program of two years. Our work is to facilitate teachers and children of primary schools for better  development of a child's growth and to create public system projects. We three fellows,Souradeep Chakraborty,Payal Sarkar and Ankaj Kumar, have been working in the district of Bageshwar for the last one and a half year. Our work location is in Wacham cluster of Pindar valley. We three work in three different villages under this cluster. After a detailed study we decided to create games room and free space for children to enhance their life skills and critical thinking process in such remote settlements. We look forward to you kind contribution in the same.
