Help Fiction Come To Life

Maya hunts men and eats them.

With your help, we can bring her to life.

Wait. That's probably not a good idea.

But you have to admit, she'd make a killer character on screen.

Was that pun intended? We'll never know.

But here's what we do know.

We're making a film where colorful characters like Maya are going to bring an equally colorful  story alive. And the name of that story is Fiction.

Fiction is a feature film that is being brewed by the camera-crazed cinephiles over at Chicken Sambar - a production house (or should we say home?) run by a group of students and recent graduates who are passionate about all things film. We've worked on several projects including short films, music videos, corporate advertisements, and promo videos. We won the Yes Bank award for short films in 2016, and 'Faye' was telecast on NDTV Prime.

But with Fiction, we're charting a map that will take us farther than we've ever ventured before.

This tale is a conglomeration of three stories. The tale begins with an unnamed man and Maya in a futuristic past. They are aware that they are merely characters in a story. The rest of the movie is split into two parts.

The first follows Gandhi, a pimp and a murderer whose quest for love and redemption leads to an extraordinary journey. The second follows Ansh, on the night after he has been dumped, through his disorienting and drug addled journey to salvage his relationship. The story comes full circle as we return to the unnamed man and Maya, and we ask ourselves this: Do things really need to happen in order for them to be true? Tales, stories, dreams. Not everything is real. Some things are Fiction.

Raj Shetty, of ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ fame, will be donning the role of ‘Gandhi’.

Creating Maya's backstory cost us fifty thousand rupees; a sum we sourced from what we earned through previous assignments and awards won at film festivals. And slathering on some paint and turning into statues for a wedding, of course.

No, really.

But it turns out that there are only so many weddings that require human statues to entertain the gathering. Who knew?

We're just a group of people who want to create: Stories. Music. Art. Films. Experiences.

And we cannot do this without you.

We aim to collect 6 lakh rupees for the efficient working of various departments like art, costumes, production, location, storage and crew. The division has been represented below:

Dear Supporters,

Rome wasn't built in a day and a movie isn't made in a few minutes. The Fiction crew is working hard and we're almost there!

We have finished shooting the film sequences for Maya without hiccups. It is only with the contributions of our generous benefactors that we're heading full swing into the preparations for the next shoot.

With the promise of constant updates at each step, we thank you for sticking around!

P.S : Our crew loves to play 'Kings' during breaks

Thank you!
