Campaign Story:

AWARE conducted an initiative ‘Dreams of Chemmenchery’- Where every dream is precious, for the underprivileged children of the community.

The event was organized on the 15th of August 2016 in one of our activity centers in Chemmenchery reaching 82 students. We have conceptualized and gave shape to the event in such a way that every child had an opportunity to envision their dreams and neatly present it through arts.

The day started with a painting competition for all the kids. The kids unleashed their hidden creative talents, some chose to stick to the tried and tested while many others went ahead with varied interpretations of their own community. The theme of the painting competition was Paint Your Dreams. Many surprisingly included strong messages for the community in their paintings such as Save Water, United India, Health is Wealth, etc. As one of the mentors remarked in his address to the audience, this was a session where he could see the children giving color to their lives through the medium of this event. All the children who participated in this event were given takeaway with a kit comprising of a coloring set, pad, stationery kit(a pencil, an eraser and a sharpener) and a 15 cm scale.

Team AWARE is committed to work for Vision 2020 - Chemmenchery in empowering these children to accomplish their dreams. To make this achieve, we have felicitated every children individually reaching to their home, making their parents aware of what their child dream is all about and how we as a team will be striving hard to make it happen and finally what support that we require from each of their parents. This was followed with a pledge activity both from AWARE and their parents on the certificate and designed child's painting will be framed on their walls.

Every child has a special dream and this event was a small initiative to help these underprivileged children envision their treasured dreams.

We would like to propose this event to be carried out in Chemmenchery reaching out to each and every children in the community. We will be conducting ‘Dreams of Chemmenchery’ every week in every Chemmenchery Balwadis, Schools, Community Hubs where regular children root fall in always ensured.

We anticipate to cover 5000 children in the community to bring out their dreams. This event will run till 15th of October, Abdul Kalam's Birth Anniversary in providing a chance for every children to let their dreams known to their parents and community.

Dear Supporters,

On 15th October, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's Birthday - We are celebrating our Chemmenchery Children on 3 distinct walks of life of our Kalam Sir

BOOKS - DREAMS - SCIENCE

1. Kalam Community Library Inauguration
Through Pratham's #DonateABook campaign, we have got enough books to supplement our Children's Library needs. We're setting up Libraries in our 5 activity centers and in Govt. Middle School and one Holistic Community Library to feed the hungry minds of the community people.

Our Library has already started spreading these innocent smiles...

2. Paint Your Dreams
An initiative to provide opportunity to every child in the community, teaching them how to dream and express their dreams through art. All their dreams will be put on the School & Community Walls, letting their parents, teachers and community people to support their Children's Dreams. Dream Centers will be launched on 14th November

3. Budding Kalam Science Club Initiation
Channelizing the energies of students and make use of their science skills and talents, which satisfy their instincts and urges and helps in their overall personality development.

As we have understood that lack of good education, lack of opportunities, lack of dreams and hopes, are the major factors hindering the growth of these not-so privileged children - we find this is the best way to celebrate Kalam Sir and our children.

We are looking for your funds to conduct our "Paint Your Dreams" initiative to unlock 5000 children's dreams through Art

Don't miss out this chance of building a better tomorrow. YOUR part will help our children realize their dreams.

Appreciate Your Support As Ever!

With Great Hopes & Dreams,
Sandhiyan Thilagavathy
