I never knew I was going to be accepted at the University of Oxford
until it happened. Born and brought up in a middle-class family in Nepal to a soldier and a housewife, I could not even dream of going to Oxford. But education silently transformed me into a chartered accountant and a corporate lawyer and today it has accorded me this chance to conclude my academic journey by attending the prestigious MSc. in Law and Finance course
at the University of Oxford
. But I am facing difficulties in supporting my cost of attendance due to a personal tragedy caused by the devastating Nepal earthquake 2015.
I have also not been offered any scholarship so far and I have until the end of July to meet the financial conditions. I have already secured my offer by paying the deposit of INR 3,50,000 (£4320), and in order to realise this dream of studying at Oxford, I need to manage at least INR 25,00,000 (£30,000) before 31 July 2017. I have already managed around INR 10,00,000 from my close friends, families and well-wishers. Therefore, I have started this campaign to raise another INR 10,00,000; so that with a generous contribution from you wonderful people, I can go to Oxford and then return back to my country to play a vital role in leading it towards stability and progress. While there is no way to redeem your blessings but as a small token of gratitude, I shall pass on the contributions that you make towards this campaign to a similar person like me through a scholarship. After completing my studies at Oxford, I shall set up a scholarship to pass on your blessings to another person in need so that your effort will continue to benefit many others in future.
India has already given me a lot since I came here in 2008 as a 17-year-old youth with full of dreams. I became a CA and now a lawyer just because of the education that this country offered me. I am an associate member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
since June 2012 and an alumnus of the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi
. Its also because of the exposure in the area of law and finance that I got here has lead me to this wonderful opportunity of studying these areas in a deeper detail at the University of Oxford. And once again, I am drawing my recourse to the wonderful people of India.
