D-Pawsitive is a group of 12+ volunteers providing nutritious nightly meals to over 250 cats and dogs around South-Central Mumbai region. The initiative was started by Pooja and Abhijit around the start of COVID-19 pandemic with friends and family coming in shortly to offer support. ​
Every night, the team assembles in Dadar(W) to collect contact less delivery of pet food and protective gear (gloves, masks & sanitizer), we are extremely careful of the volunteer hygiene. The team them embarks on a food distribution drive in their respective areas feeding all the stray cats and dogs it finds on its way. The team provides high quality pet food of authentic brands such as Pedigree, SmartHeart and APro depending on the availability. The team also prepares special home cooked meals such as Rice and Chicken for dogs who are elder in age and don’t find it comfortable chewing hard food. The team provides PurePet cat food to our kitten friends. The food distribution is generally split into a 75:25 dog to cat ratio.

We are self-funded for now and have supplies and funds that can last us during the proposed lock-down by the government but since updating on Social Media about our work, we have been approached by individual feeders who aren’t very strong on the supply side. We are now planning to expand our reach and cover geographical locations beyond our reach now. The goal is too feed up to a 1000 animals a day in a week or so for which we are looking towards donations from individuals or organizations who believe in our cause and mission of ensuring no stray dog or cat has to sleep on an empty stomach.
