ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER
Deepak, a native of Washim district, Maharashtra is suffering from a chronic disorder known as Thalassemia. As thalassemia is an illness which is a type of inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, he often turns pale and frequently catches fever due to the deficiency of blood. As thalassemia does not let Deepak to form normal blood in his body, the process of blood transfusion takes at least 10-12 days to accomplish. As of now, his treatment is being carried out in CMC hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore. While searching for a bone marrow to replace with Deepak’s marrow, his sister’s bone marrow came out matched giving a ray of hope to the family in pain.
But everything is not as simple as it seems to be. Now they have bone marrow but they don’t have sufficient capital for the operation. Bone marrow transplant needs to be done whose costs is estimated to be 14 lakhs which is obviously a very huge amount for a poor family like Deepak’s family whose father just earns 3000-4000 rupees a month. He is a tractor driver by profession and doesn’t even own the tractor he drives. He also works as a laborer.
He has been granted an amount of 3 lakhs as a help for Deepak’s operation from the Maharashtra government and has also written a letter to PMO from where he is expected to receive an amount of 3 lakhs very soon. The Thalassemia society will also provide the family with an amount of 1 lakh post the operation. In total he is in need of 6 lakh rupees to save his little kid from the wrath of one of the most chronic and dangerous diseases named Thalassemia. It’s not just Deepak who is in agony but also his consolidate family so kindly donate and bless the kid with life.
