Story
Dear Friends and Family,
Most of you know that I am currently volunteering at a children's home for children affected by HIV/AIDs or TB. Dayspring home looks after 30 children between the ages 3-18 who are either living with the disease, rejected because of it, orphaned or can no longer be supported by sick parents. It is run by a non-profit organization called Blossom Trust which relies on donations to keep the home running and provide food and medical care for the children. Having experienced the children in their own environment, it is clear that they are lacking in basic comforts like toothbrushes and shoes. Dayspring Home provides shelter and food for these children, but their quality of life could still be improved by the smallest of donation. Any donation will contribute to the long list of the things that Dayspring Home need.
We are spending two weeks at the Dayspring Home as volunteers. Have come here - and been totally shocked - we want to help Dayspring Home raise as much as possible. What struck us the most, is how positive the children are despite their troubled backgrounds. They smile all the time and have a extreme amount of energy, but it doesn't hide the fact that they are extremely vulnerable and require much more help. Whatever we raise, big or small, will certainly benefit their lives more than you can imagine.
The children are inspirational and have already made my time so special. Despite coming from difficult background they always have positive attitudes and cheeky smiles on their face. They work harder than any kids I know. Whether they are 5 or 18, every day before and after school, they work around the house and on the farm helping to improve their simple lifestyle. I try to spend as much time as possible helping and being with them, hoping to make a small difference in their lives.
I am hoping to fundraise so I can contribute to the ongoing costs and projects at Dayspring but also so I can give something to the children directly to show them how important they have become to me.
Any amount you would like to donate is greatly appreciated. Even small amounts go a long way and can make a big difference the lives of these children.
