Curcumin is a yellow polyphenolic compound found in Curcuma longa Linn (Haldi). It has wound healing, anticancer and antioxident properties. However, use of curcumin as anticancer agent has been limited by its low absorption and low bioavailability. It has been found that complexing curcumin with phospholipids can increase its bioavailability. However, the procedure is expensive, tedious and not environment friendly. We want to develop a fast and cost effective microwave based method to incorporate curcumin in phospholipids. The invention will improve delivery of curcumin to cancer cells in patients suffering from cancer.
