Support kids like Abhishek for a better future in our Palna Shishu Kendra program, a pre school education initiative.
Four year old Abhishek joined our Palna Shishu Kendra programme in 2016. Belonging to a lower middle class family, he was a very quiet child and used to stammer while speaking. He had no exposure to any kind of academic knowledge.

With constant guidance and support from our instructors, he has made tremendous progress in one year. He can now read and write alphabets in English and can count up to 50. He can also pronounce and write the vowels in Hindi. With the regular health check-ups conducted by our doctors and therapists at the centre, there has been an improvement in his stammering problem.

Today, we are delighted that he is one of the most active students in class, participating enthusiastically in all the activities.

It’s a matter of great pride for us that Abhishek is happily integrated in Saraswati Niketan Public School!

About us:
Delhi Council for Child Welfare is a non-governmental organisation originally established in 1952 just after the partition of India. At the time, massive populations migrated between what became India and Pakistan. Thousands of children, including infants were lost and abandoned in the melee. It was then, that some social workers came together to quickly take the displaced children in their charge. They readily embraced the smart, little souls and offered them shelter, sustenance and solace. And thus, the mission was born.

In over 6 decades since conception, we have reached out to over 3,00,000 children at our 17 centres in and around Delhi. We have achieved this through programmes in the areas of health, nutrition, pre-school education and rehabilitation of differently abled children.

About PSK:
It is a pre-school initiative to take care of the children of working parents who are unable to offer time or resources for the development of their children. It centers around underprivileged children in the age group of 2.5 to 6 years, with a vision to prepare them for school and help their parents through the admission process. We focus on the holistic growth of the child through language, cognitive, social, creative and physical development.

Objectives:
Play-way learning prompting the children to explore and learn for themselves, with the teacher being the facilitator.
Monthly medical check-ups for the students, further sensitising them about good and bad touch.
Focus on basic hygiene and sanitation, instilling manners and confidence in the children.
A cheerful and caring atmosphere, which our children look forward to.
Guidance to parents about admission procedure and required documentation.

Starting with just two centres in 2014 at Qudsia Bagh and Janakpuri, we have come a long way! Today, Palna Shishu Kendra reaches out to over 450 children, with about 40-50 children in each unit. We now, run 10 units at 13 centres across Delhi including poorest neighbourhood slums and resettlement colonies of Dakshinpuri, Madipur, Bawana, Karala, Nithari.

Our little ones stood out across elite public schools with 80% of them being admitted into: Air Force School, A.S.N. Public School, Central School, Dasmesh Public School, Evergreen Public School, G.D. Goenka School, Hansraj Model Public School, St Xavier's School as well as several Government model schools.

We at Palna Shishu Kendra, are committed to offering a unique experience to the children and their families. With the increased demand for enrollment of the children in our centres and replacement of some furniture, we require 10 sets of tables and chairs. Each set comprising of 1 table and 5 chairs costs Rs. 15000.

All donations are eligible for 50% tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
